Gay Halloween in Tokyo, Advocates, Oct 30 9:00pm-2am
In Tokyo, Halloween is starting to become a bigger commercialized American 'festival' - of sorts. I am one of the few people who attempts to get gay-buds to dress up and go out on Halloween weekend. We're rounding up in Tokyo Ni-chome gay district on the Saturday before Halloween.

However, there used to be a time when hundreds of costumed foreigners would gather at Shinjuku train station for a raucous ride around the green circle train, the Yamanote Line. At a designated time on the Saturday before All Saint's Day or Tous Saints (Nov 1) (or All Hallow's Eve (Oct 31), as many as 500 foreign residents would all board a late evening train headed counter clockwise around the center of Tokyo. At each station, approximately 2-4 minutes intervals, the whole gang would jump off the train car (actually more like a subway although mainly above ground) and then dash into another train car in a mad howling mass - before the doors closed. Of course, it causes chaos and a lot of local commuters were also pushed and shoved. So it used to be a kind of revenge act for all those other 51 weeks when we are involuntarily packed like sardines on our way to and from work every day.
People wore all kinds of simple and elaborate costumes, but I love to see the straight men wearing a yukata (summer kimono) with nothing on underneath, so their freeballing ended up becoming a point of departure for an interesting conversation over beers after the 'wild ride.' Invariably, you would meet a new group of mildly acquainted people and stay out in the bars and streets under the sunrise.
Because there was a lot of 'incidental damage' to the trains (broken light fixtures, trash, and people getting hurt - mainly some drunk participants slipping or getting caught in train doors), the police decided to put a complete stop to the shenanigans a few years back. So hundreds of them arrive around the suspected witching with shields and riot batons, ready to stand firm (and maybe 'erect' too) if a crowd of mainly white people in weird clothes shows up. So far no one has seemed to see that simply choosing another station on the circle or working in tandom with cellphones from various small stations would allow the 'Wild Ride' to go on. The problem is that 500 strangers don't usually meet up and then go in cohoots to plan what might be considered a urban terrorist act.
I'll be at the Gay Halloween Street Party that is starting to become a micro traditional in front of Advocates Cafe (gay bar) in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ni-chome district ( a 10-minute walk from the main Shinjuku Train station).

If you are in Tokyo on Sat, Oct 30, then drop by Advocates (in costume or without) or you could try your luck for another spontaneous Wild Ride at Shinjuku JR Station at about 10pm that night. But beware the police will be out in droves to prevent it. Still....

Who would put only one type of vegetable on the table for every single meal? All types of men (and young men) are sexy.There are great looking men among every ethnic group. I understand why someone may have never had the chance to even meet or befriend another 'race', or have sex with some other race, but it's just taste.
I wrote the above on a large gay site's discussion forum and then continued with the rest below.
It happens pretty often -- not only on that site, but other gay men's sites, and even in the general population -- that you hear someone expressing that 'Asian boys' are hot.
It's almost like they just 'found' out that Asian men exist (smile). More Asians exist on the planet than Caucasians. Bu why is it that almost without fail, discussion(?), if you can call it that, is interrupted by some crack-pot who lowers the already low level of the conversation to simply tell the other posters/readers that he doesn't like Asian men. Often, the ensuing discussion heats up. Someone jumps into criticize his luddite comments or an Asian male lances forward with a blunt attack on the guy's morality, calling it a 'racial' foul in the game of 'face-ball'). I've stopped confronting them directly, but prefer to make my point in an oblique attack on their screwy self-belief system. The blog entry is an even more distant swipe at ethnicity insensitive 'bastards' and one that may reach a larger audience. I say 'bastards' because a real one is born with no father, and by association is a person who no one would want as a father, brother, buddy, friend or lover. It simply infuriates me that the poor bastard has no idea who bad he makes himself look - or then again, maybe that's exactly what he wants us to believe.
The guy who bothers to read and drop in on a discussion (forum) thread - NOT THE ONE HERE ON QUEERCLIQUE but on other large gay sites, such as JustUsBoys, Gay.com and Dudesnude about hot Asian guys -- only to tell us he doesn't like them -- is like a fart in an elevator. Nobody can deny such a bad smell exists, but no one is in position to identify the perpetrator. To me (and probably a lot of you too), there is no use explaining your own lack of taste or your lack of self-understanding, or the sad fact of your own little closed world. So why do those guys who don't enjoy being with certain races sexually have to make the point here on threads like this?
Just look.. these guys are supposedly 'gay' men who represent a clearly, still oppressed minority group. How could someone who is oppressed or discriminated against themselves open his mouth to utter that?
Look at the logic of it. For example, I hate American football (as opposed to love World Football 'soccer' which I enjoy watching and playing (amateur - of course), but I don't go to the SDSU college stadium on a game day and hold up a sign saying so 'I don't like Linebackers.' Then, why in the hell, do some fuckers come into a certain discussion forum or chat room ,and hold up their own 'sign' in our face saying that they don't like Asian men.
Anyway... enough of that soapbox... I'm not going to even bother to look at such threads again.. because invariably those same bozos will have to defend their right to be anti-ethnic.
There IS a difference between prejudice and preference. Unfortunately, it is difficult to 'discriminate' between the two sometimes when some people talk. (sly smirk)......

They are young, cute, gay and Very Eco-Friendly. Dusty and Garet live in Seattle and started making videos a few years ago (posted on Vimeo) to accompany their delightful and very readable blog, which was recently nominated for one of Lonely Planet's Best Travel Blog Awards. Dusty and Garet describe themselves this way:[We are] boyfriends, naturalist, adventure seekers and photographers. [The blog tells] where they and friends go on outdoor recreation trips. We're two 28 year old boys from the Pacific Northwest. What they do for our edification and entertainment is truly something all of would like to do: get naked in the sunshine. But rarely can most people actually put that wish into practice - except of a few hardy nudists and outdoor naturists (like me too). That's an affinity we definitely share, and with a whole lot of people (gay straight, male / female - around the world).
That is certainly the reason I accidentally discovered them, stumbling upon their blog and videos online in the first place. I have frequently searched the Web for these and similar interests. Just as so might you have been doing in finding this blog post. But search no longer, my friends and naked outdoor recreationalists, the Scenic Boys are on the trail again for Spring 2009.
The Boys are back -- and in all their glory -- so I cannot wait for what's in store this season. Incidentally, their nakedness is never blatant or simply for its own effect. This is NOT the 'cock-in-your-face' gratuitous poofery that the new Internet Web 2.0 so often shoves in our face. Although guilty of sometimes doing that too am I , and also certainly a die-hard fan of watching nude and aroused guys, (check my other blogs to find out how much).
I really really love what the Scenic Boys stand for. They represent a kind of new breed (or species) of the Gay American Male (couple) - perhaps such great nature-loving gay men have existed for eons (and likely for longer in Canada and Europe).
Let me be sure to point out that their online nudity is clandestine, totally natural, supremely classic (artistic), and occurs seemingly spontaneously in the most appropriate and unobtrusive contexts that you almost don't even notice they are naked! The excursions are immersed among some truly glorious natural landscapes which balance - even overshadow the masculine physical beauty of their bare subjects - mostly each other, but occasionally a naked friend or two, who is accompanying them. The nudity isn't even highlighted in either their blogs or videos - so they make it a non-issue.
The two scenic lover boys habitually go to places where the spatial perspective, remote or interesting geography, varied terrain, splendid timing, and often gorgeous weather invite all human visitors, who would be blessed to pass among such pristine natural splendor, who could not resist the unbridled desire to remove all clothing and be exposed to the audacious beauty of Mother Earth and Father Sky.
It is going natural (au naturel) in the ultimate sense of the word: naturist, naturalist, and Earth-protecting, and respecting eco-nudist, seen in his finest form and his own element. It helps (terrifically - LOL) that the Scenic Boys are both rather nice looking or 'scenic' themselves. No slouchy couch potatoes with too much Seattle Java under their belts here, and Ugly Fuzzy and Dust_monkee - in their alternate persona on Flickr - are very easy on the old eye-balls, not to put too crass of a spin on admiring their earthly delights.
Dusty and Garet (known to me as Gareath -(as if from an ancient Gaelic myth), leaving modesty or the lack of it aside for a moment, don't mind sharing their love for each other, and the simple joys of friendship and life's little pleasure, and their equally brilliant admiration for the bountiful riches that Mother Nature offers to all who will partake of it throught hiking, camping, boating trips not very far from home. They lead us on short weekend visit - how to just enjoy living and breathing deeply outdoors - in mainly the North West of the US.
Don't get me wrong or get me righteous.... these are not porn stars or blatant exhibitionists... not that I have anything against those two categories of men either. But they are just two very sweet, emotionally mature (although they might not admit it), really-down-to-earth, thoughtful and sexy guy-next-door dudes that you can't help but fall in love with (OK.. I admit it). What more could modern (queer or straight) America ask for? These are the true American idols -- emblem boys for a Post-Modern Greening of America and for today's Obama-generation which includes 8 - 88 year-olds, crossing all former social lines of separation: age, race, gender, sexuality, and politics.)
They don't comment much on religion. If you haven't met them or 'scene' the down-home, earthy, yet well-made, videos posted on the Scenic Boys blog, then you don't know what you've been missing. Take a gander and you'll be back regularly for more outdoor adventures with the two handsome trekkers and the consort of friends in local and faraway places. Their photographic and videographic work is very nice done.
You can get a close-up view at their Scenic Boys blog. More importantly, it depicts their wonderful pastoral romps through America's and (a few) other nation's natural vistas , bathing in warm hot spring pools or relaxing at a pitched tent camping spot in the rugged terrains on their many weekend and vacation journeys around state and national parks. Remarkably they often do in te bare naked 'state' as well in which they arrived the our beloved Earth. I cannot wait for them to visit Hawaii. Hopefully it will be at a time when a few of their fans (and friends) can join them.
I'm going to suggest some ideas for a Big Island Naked Hiking Adventure, which will originate from Kalani Honau Oceanside Resort, a gay-friendly retreat spot on the shores of the Puna Coast. Dusty (and Garet), I suppose I have such an idealized view of you too that I might be surprised (or disappointed) if I even met the actual two real humans - who go by such names as dust monkee and ugly fuzzy. (LOL) But probably not. At any rate, I do idolize what you have. By all appearances, you live your lives without fear or malice, reveling in the simplist of pleasures that life on Earth has to offer -- and with all the cool and subdued exuberance for which youthfulness can rightly be blamed (smile).
My 'net' personas are disguises - but only partly so. Each just shows one perspective on my real personalty and actual life. It's a major I simultaneously both love and hate the Internet. I would never know of you and your Scenic Boys blog/vids but I have to do so under a covert identity. Not to preach to the choir, but the older generation of gay and bi men who survived the initial blast of the HIV epidemic were also irreparably scarred - perhaps almost emotionally twisted - in the process. One of my own recollections (a travel experience from about 5 years ago):
When I went to Russia, the Far East city of Vladivostok. The amateur photo above was forwarded in a group message from: atitlan on his [ymna2] Yahoo group. It shows the annual Bayonne Festival, France (no, it is not just for pissing). Many young men participate, all dressed in the required white and red costumes. Evidently, a lot of wine is consumed over several days of fun and festivities, and - as is typical - there are not enough WC (toilets or porta-potties) to go around. Something that is all too true in the US, but in that country, men are mostly too shy about pissing in public (unlike a lot of other countries - p.s. It's also possible too that it's because it is illegal - considering lewd behavior -- WTF!? Of all the human behaviors - there are only two that MUST happen -- eating/drinking and what happens afterward - getting rid of what the body does not use. Why that is considered lewd or obscene I will never understand. But.. perhaps it's just as well. because the sight of such behavior does cause some people to get turned on. I guess I am one of them).

The workshops are clearly academic sessions intended to help both novice and accomplished artists polish their skills in drawing human anatomy and the corresponding changes that occur when males (and possible females as well) are engaged in erotic behavior - either alone or in couples or groups.
Clearly not everyone is an artist, but there may be other forms that such artisitic and academic endeavours might take that would draw upon various other skill set and aesthetic consciousness, such as 'naked chamber orchestra', musical composition workshops drawing upon nude male bodywork and instrumental use of the male human body, naked dance workshops, naked theatre workshops and nude poetry studios, and performance art installation studio that meld various aspects across multi-modal forms of artistic expressions while being centred about the role of human nudity and male sexual identity and behavior.

THE EROTIC DRAWING STUDIO HAS FIVE RULES. (from the Leslie Lohman website page). 1. Artists are asked to make a reservation by replying to the email announcement when they plan on attending a session. They should also let us know if their plans have changed and they must cancel the reservation.
2. No one may speak to the model, and there is to be no interaction between the artists and the model, when the model is ON the model stand, except the one in charge of directing the pose.
3. If an artist finds the model so alluring that he cannot concentrate on drawing, he may not simply sit and gape. He MUST at least PRETEND to draw.
4. Each artist must clean up after himself, i.e., if you have left pencil shavings on the floor, please sweep them up.
5. Photography is not permitted unless a special prior arrangement is made with the studio director and the model.
Perhaps there are members of the CMNM social networking sites or other interested, and serious men, who might be interested in attending the Workshops described above. Someone in the New York City area should contact the Studio/Gallery organizer to see if a 'special' workshop session might be organized. Perhaps there are some of the current models who would be willing to participate in a CMNM event outside the normal 'rules' that the Gallery needs to impose.

Who can join: Legal adults (21 or older for most events).

Who will be there: Since it's just getting organized now (mid Sept), there's a good chance we'll have a dozen (or perhaps much more) men attending the private CMNM events. While touching or fondling others would need that person's consent; removing your own clothes, masturbating, kissing are left to the individuals involved. You should indicate at the onset whether you are mainly a CM (clothed male), NM (naked male) or if you would prefer to have both roles. Some events (or parts thereof) will not allow any sexual or overly affectionte behavior that involve physically touching genitals or engaging in overt sex (because of the public or commerical location).
